Inky Impressions 2nd Design Team Call

It is that time again. Inky Impressions is having their 2nd Design Team call.
They are looking for enthusiastic, friendly and talented stampers to help promote their products and to provide inspiration to the stamping community through your personal blog and online galleries.
This call is open to everyone!! If you applied for their 1st DT call, please feel free to reapply!!
You are not required to use Inky Impressions stamps for your submissions but it’s a plus if you do. All submissions must be received by August 3, 2009 by midnight (12:00 a.m.) Eastern Time and the new Design Team will be announced the week of August 9, 2009.

Here's what you have to do:

Create a post on your blog with the title "Inky Impressions 2nd Design Team Call" and include one of your favorite cards and one of your favorite non-card projects, using images that require colouring. Your colouring ability is very important. After you have created your Inky DT Call post, link your post using Mr Linky on the Inky Impressions Blog . They would LOVE to see your creations using Inky Impressions rubber stamps but it is not required.

I don't have any Inky Impressions stamps (yet!!), so here are my two favourite projects for the submission using stamps by other stamp companies. Obviously, regular visitors to my blog will recognise these projects:

For my card I've chosen a project entitled "Edwin the Lion Keeper", which I created using Magnolia stamps coloured with Copic Markers.

Here are a couple of close ups to show the colouring in more detail.

For my non-card project I've chosen "Scaredy Cats", which is a bag I made following a template. For this project I used a Stampavie Stamp and I coloured it with pencil crayons blended using Sansodor and paper stumps.

Again, here's a close up of the coloured image.

I would like to thank the team at Inky Impressions for considering my application.

If you have time please browse the rest of my blog to see more of my creations.

Scaredy Cats!!

Hi - Here I am with a 2nd post today!!! Please scroll down to see today's earlier post.

I have my entry for
Stampavie Challenge #9 "A bag by Lauren M"

Here's my bag.
I used Stampavie's "You Go First" stamp. These cats are so cute and look as if they might be getting up to mischief - just like my two, Thomas & Pablo!!!
I stamped the image onto plain white card stock using Memento Black Ink. I then coloured it using pencil crayons, which I blended using Sansodor and paper stumps. This is the first time I've used this technique!

I used an animal print card stock from my stash to make the bag and followed the tutorial, which you can find on Lauren's blog.
The flowers are Papermania and Prima. The brad is from my stash.

Thanks for dropping by, hope you like it.

Bring a Bottle!

Hi

Today's card is for the Friday Sketchers Challenge, which this week is sponsored by Shimmerz. This week's fab sketch by Jacque:
Here's what I've made...
I used the Magnolia "Tilda with Wine and Basket" stamp and coloured, as usual, with my Copics.

I used some adhesive gems for her buttons and a little Stickles for her wing.
The papers are printed from my computer, but I cannot remember where I found them originally.

The flowers are by Prima and the adhesive pearls in the centre are from my stash.

Hope you like it.

Cupcake Anyone?

Hi
Today's card is for the Just Magnolia Challenge. This week they have a fabulous sketch by Tab to follow:

Here's what I made...

I used the Magnolia "Love Muffin" stamp from the Love 2009 Collection.

I stamped the image onto Manga Art Board using Black Memento Ink and coloured it in with my Copics. I cut it out and mounted it onto some pink Coordination Whitewash card stock. The "Cupcake" Sentiment is from Alota Rubber Stamps and I stamped it onto the reverse of a piece of the pink Whitewash card.

The papers I used are from the Papermania Blueberry Hill paper pack and, to give some definition, I inked the edges with a little Ranger Distressed Ink in Worn Lipstick. The ribbon and little flowers are from my stash.

Thanks for dropping by - I hope you like it.

Please Help Me !!!

Hi

I am interested in purchasing the Imagepac Daylight System for creating my own stamps. However, before spending such a large amount of my hard earned money, I wondered whether anyone out there has experience of this system, or knows somebody who has experience.

Is it worth the money?

Is it easy to use?

Is the final result worthwhile?

Also, are there any other systems available that you would recommend instead of this one?

If you can, please help!!!

Here's a close up of the image:

A Wedding Card

Hi

Here's a Wedding Card I've made for a teacher at my boys' School.

I'm going to enter it for this week's Everybody Art Challenge, where the theme is "Weddings".

I used a stamp by Scrapmagasinet called "Wedding Couple" which you can get from Nikki at Bunny-Zoe Crafts . I stamped the image onto Manga Art Board and coloured it using my Copic markers.
I made the roses myself and the bells and pink ribbon are from my stash.
I typed a sentiment on the computer and used some "Sweet Pea" Flower Soft around the edge for interest. I also used Flower Soft on the bouquet.
I also made a box to put it in.

For this I chose some pearl pink card and used the Crafters Companion Ultimate - I don't use the Ultimate very often, but when I do it's a lifesaver!!!

I stamped the matching "Wedding Bouquet" Stamp by Scrapmagasinet onto some Manga Art Board, used a medium oval Nestability to cut it and popped a pink eyelet in the top to make a tag.

I coloured the image using my Copics again and used some more Flower Soft.

I used the same pink ribbon to tie around the box.

This is the first Wedding card I've made, I hope the Happy Couple like it!!!

Anyway, thanks for dropping by and leaving your comments, I love reading them.

Charisma Cardz Challenge 27 - Alter It

Hi

Today, I have an entry for Charisma Cardz Challenge #27, which is to alter something.

Here's what I've done:

I started with two empty (and washed!!!) coffee jars - they're the ones from Douwe Egberts and have lovely glass lids -when they are empty and the labels have been soaked off, there is nothing on them anywhere to say they were coffee jars, so they're perfect for altering.

It is quite a simple "alter".

I used some patterned paper to make a wrap to go around the jars, I stuck this using silicone glue.

I stamped Magnolia's "New Year Edwin" and "Pink Tilda with Striped Tights" onto Manga Art Board and coloured them using my Copics.

I cut out my images and stuck them onto tags, which I cut using my Sizzix. I also put on some adhesive gems.
For the lids, I stamped and coloured the same Edwin and Tilda images as before. I then cut them out using circle Nesties. I also cut some circles from the same card I used for the tags and then simply layered them. I stuck them to the lids using silicone glue.

To attach the tags I used some elastic bands in matching colours.
I filled one with Minstrels and one with Smarties for the Jar Tombola at my boys' School Summer Fair.

Hope you like them.
Thanks for dropping by.

Spring Blossoms

Hi everyone, hope you're having a good day.

Today I have a card that I am going to submit for the DT Call at Stampavie. It also fits the "Buttons & Bows" challenge over at The Next Level Challenge Blog, so I am going to enter it there too.

I've used my favorite Stampavie stamp - Sarah Kay "Spring Blossoms" and I've coloured her using my Copic markers and added a little "Sweet Pea" Flower Soft. I love adding Flower Soft to this image.

The papers are from the Papermania Blueberry Hill A4 paper stack and the blue card is from my stash.

The flowers are Prima and the button, ribbon and pink pearls are also from my stash.

Hope you like it.

NESTABILITIES - Easy Storage

I am sure that lots of us have bought Nestability Dies and then struggled to find a suitable way to store them, without losing or damaging them, once the packaging has been opened.

I thought that I would share with you my solution to this problem!

1. Take a standard CD case ...

... and remove the CD holder insert.

2. Cut a piece of plain paper 138mm x 118mm ...

... and cover it using a Xyron Laminate / Magnetic cartridge, or similar.

3. This should fit inside the CD case and the Nestability dies can then be placed on to the magnetic surface.

4. The dies will stay in place, even when they are stored vertically ...

... and are easily removed without risk of bending or damaging the dies.

5. Don’t forget to label the spine of the CD case for easy identification when it is stored on a shelf!
Thanks for dropping by. Hope this comes in handy!!

Edwin the Lion Keeper

Hi

Hope you're all having a happy, sunny Sunday!!!

Today I have a card for two challenges
- Just Magnolia's Monthly Tutorial Challenge which is Distressing and A Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge where the theme is summer.

So, here's what I made:

As I love taking my boys to the zoo during the school summer holidays, I decided to make a zoo inspired card for the summer theme.

I used two Magnolia stamps - "Edwin as Animal Keeper" and "Lion".
I coloured them using my Copics and also used some dark gold glitter glue on the lion's mane & tail and my silver Sakura metallic pen for Edwin's belt buckle and key.

I used some Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Spiced Marmalade to distress around the lion. I used some black Co-ordinations card and distressed the edge to reveal an orange core.

I also had some fibres in my stash, which I've used to the left of the lion, I think they look quite effective.

The papers are from Joanna Sheen's Jane Netley Mayhew Collection CD ROM.

I'm also linking this card to the Charmed Delectable Stamps Blog where they have a set of 72 Copic Pens up for grabs - go check it out!!

Thanks for dropping by. Hope you like it.

Sarah's Fabulous School Satchel!!!

 Hi

Today I want to show you what I've made for the boy's to give their teachers as a "Thank You" at the end of this term.

Firstly, I have to give all credit to SarahB at CARD OASIS for designing a fabulous template to make the satchel. She really is a very talented lady, so hop on over and take a look at her blog.

I made the satchel following Sarah's template.

Instead of a card, I made an ATC.

I used two Magnolia stamps; Edwin with Glasses and School Books, the School Books stamp has a pile of 5 books, but I only used 3 of them. I coloured them using my Copic markers as usual.

I am going to put the Teachers' names into the name plates for that personal touch!

The boys will write their own special messages on the back of the ATCs and we are going to put a few choccies into the satchels.

I've only made this one so far, and still have two to make as William has two teachers!!

Anyway, I hope you like it and don't forget to hop over to Sarah's Blog, it's well worth a look.
